Monsignor Marco Frisina: IN HOC SIGNO...
Original libretto, based on crucial moments in life of Roman Emperor Constantine The Great, was written by Dejan Miladinovic von Voynits. Special attention is directed to the Edict of Milan (313 AD) when Christianity has became official religion of the entire Roman Empire.
From Scene 1: "The Birth of Pagan", to the Scene 15: "The Birth of Christian", spectator is following the narrow and dolorous path of Christianity from martyrdom to the triumph.
The author and his libretto have been blessed by Serbian Christian Orthodox Patriarch Iriney and Archbishop of Roman-Catholic Belgrade Archdiocese Monsignor Hocevar.
The high governament Comittee (Republic of Serbia) for celebration of 1700 years of Edict of Milan has chosen this libretto because of its high artistic and religion qualities to be the closing ceremony for the entire celebration.
The opening night and world premiere of this opera was held on October 8, 2013, at Belgrade National Opera, Serbia, in the presence of President of Republic of Serbia Mr. Nikolic, Serbian Patriarch Iriney, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constanipole Bartholomew, Roman-Catholic Archbishop Msgr.
